HAJ is an artist and filmmaker.
Trained as a sculptor, 3D generalist, animator, and machinist, he won the Stan Winston Robot Design Contest with RoboBeast, a lion robot. Since then he has made creature, character, and 3D work for Levi's, Zoox, Marvel/Disney, and TBWA\Chiat\Day.
Commercial work runs through his studio, LIONBRUSH. The Den, a private reel of 3D-driven AI work, is available on request.
Storyteller first. The characters come before everything else.
Under a total eclipse, a dying clay weaver finishes his final rug, and the creatures woven into it wake to dance his life out of him.
Every frame began in 3D, sculpted, animated, and lit by hand. Some shots are entirely that. Others were finished with generative tools, because a film this size has no other way to exist in one lifetime and one pair of hands.
Sculpture, relief, and print. Objects made by hand and by machine: carved and cast, milled and printed, the same creatures brought out of the screen and into something you can hold.
